Celebrity Chefs Cooking in Florida

The real estate scene is flourishing with plenty of luxury homes in South Florida available to prospective buyers. From world class restaurants run by celebrity chefs to the top-notch arts and cultural events, South Florida is a haven for those who enjoy the finer things in life.

Restaurants are a thriving scene in Florida. Celebrity chefs from near and far have zoned in on the area and opened a multitude of fine eateries, much to the delight of many South Florida foodies. Treat your palette to some delicious dishes by some of these notable names:

Bobby’s Burger Palace

The mall is not necessarily a place you would expect to see a restaurant from a celebrity chef, but Food Network Star Bobby Flay has picked the Dadeland Mall in Kendall for his fast food joint, Bobby’s Burger Palace. The restaurant features regionally named gourmet hamburgers, such as the Miami burger topped with pickles, Swiss, ham, mayo and mustard. For your drinking pleasure, there are 13 different malts and milkshakes, some with alcohol, and a frozen cactus margarita bar.

Catch

In Miami Beach, Collins Ave. is the place to see and be seen. Hung Huynh, the winner of Top Chef Season 3, has selected the famous street as the location of his restaurant, Catch. The globally-inspired menu includes entrées, such as Cantonese lobster and whole snapper.

db Bistro Moderne

With more than 17 restaurants around the world, Daniel Boulud is considered a superstar chef. The db Bistro Moderne, located in the JW Marriott Marquis in Downtown Miami, caters to the ultra fabulous with options, such as foie gras terrine with mulberries and tarragon and butter-poached halibut with maitake mushrooms.

La Mar by Gaston Acurio

If you’re in the mood for some Peruvian flavor, check out La Mar by Gaston Acurio at the Mandarin Oriental Miami, which opened in April 2014. The restaurant is a stateside version of celebrity chef Gaston Acurio’s popular Lima franchise. Enjoy dining along the Biscayne Bay while eating Criollo, a ceviche that includes marinated yellowtail snapper.

Michy’s

Can comfort food be luxurious? Chef Michelle Bernstein makes a convincing case with Michy’s, her flagship restaurant in Miami. You may recognize Bernstein from the Food Network, where she won against Bobby Flay on Iron Chef America. However, she has also won a notable award, the Best Chef: South from the James Beard Foundation. Michy’s menu includes feta over cucumber-watermelon salad and freshly sautéed seafood.

Touché

Fans of Top Chef Season 10 in Seattle who remember Chef Carla Pellegrino will be pleased to know her Miami restaurant, Touché, received rave reviews during its April 2014 opening. Pellegrino, of Brazilian and Italian background, also has restaurants in Las Vegas and has cooked at the James Beard House in NYC five times. Touché, a rooftop spot, only offers 50 seats and includes dishes, such as filet mignon wrapped in pancetta with melted Gorgonzola cheese and porcini mushroom pappardelle.
