As a suburban town located in Miami-Dade county, Miami Springs was founded by Glenn Hammond Curtiss, the famous Father of Naval Aviation. Before 1926, the town was called Country Club Estates and was one of the first planned communities in Florida. Miami Springs features homes with Pueblo Revival architecture which are inspired by southwestern homes. The city was incorporated and renamed in 1926.

The city is dedicated to the education of residents of all ages. With two elementary schools, a middle school, one high school, and several private schools, each neighborhood has an education center in close proximity.
